The debate on the EU budget reform is multilayered. It pinpoints various aspects, which implicitly reveal problems related to the national governmental basis regarding the defense of EU countries’ interests. In the Communication Strategy of Bulgaria for its EU membership, the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria encourages proactive dialog on the issues of the EU budget policy among the various strata of society. Awareness enhancement creates prerequisites for taking optimal decisions when applying for EU funding and acquaints candidates with the best practices.

 

The report comprises the opinions on the above-mentioned issues as expressed at a round table on the topic of EU Budget Reform held with the participation of representatives of businesses, state and municipal administration, university lecturers and consultants.

 

The report proposes specific recommendations to the government.
